Corey Taylor on His Big Regret About Paul Gray + Balancing Slipknot with Stone Sour
During this year's Welcome to Rockville Festival, Loudwire Nights host Full Metal Jackie caught up with Slipknot / Stone Sour frontman Corey Taylor to speak about late Slipknot bassist Paul Gray, balancing two bands, the Knot's newest album and much more.
After joking around a bit about the chaotic Jacksonville, Fla., weather that plagued the Welcome to Rockville Festival, Corey Taylor talks about dividing his time between his two extremely successful bands, Slipknot and Stone Sour. Taylor actually finds it quite easy to switch between the two, citing his ability to switch gears in an instant.
.5: The Gray Chapter came from a painful process. The 2010 death of bassist Paul Gray left Slipknot in a type of limbo for years, but the band's 2014 full-length was Slipknot's strongest album in years, as Taylor himself proclaims. Corey also speaks about what he would have regretted if he was never able to convey those emotions through a Slipknot album and reveals the one regret he has about Paul Gray.
Slipknot will hit the road soon with a monster lineup: Lamb of God, Bullet for My Valentine and Motionless in White. The package tour is an "F-U to the pop world" according to Taylor and the man continues by praising the acts on the bill, specifically Motionless in White. "Not a lot of people in this world mean it anymore, and they really want it," says Corey.
