Chevelle Bassist Dean Bernardini to Exit After 2019 Tour
Chevelle kept it in the family in 2005, with Sam Loeffler's brother-in-law Dean Bernardini joining the band on bass after the exit of fellow Loeffler brother Joe Loeffler. Now, after a decade-plus in the band, Bernardini has announced that he's taking a break from the group that will start after their 2019 tour dates conclude.
The bassist first appeared on the band's 2007's Vena Sera album and has been on each record since. Chevelle just announced more late year tour dates that will keep them playing stateside into mid-December, giving fans more of an opportunity to see the current lineup as is. From the wording of the band's and Bernardini's statements, it appears that the door is left open for a return, but the bassist cited a desire to spend more family time for his upcoming exit.
"Big changes happening as we say farewell for now to our bass player Dean. This will be his last tour with us for a while. Be sure to come on out and catch a show before years end," state the group, while Bernardini's full statement can be read below:
To all my dedicated friends/fans: It is with a heavy heart that I have decided I will be taking a break from the road to spend some much needed time at home with my family. I consider myself lucky to have been a part of Chevelle & have shared the stage with such incredible musicians. These past 15 years & 6 albums have been amazing to be a part of. I will continue to work on my passion of music in some form or another & continue to put time into my art & furniture business at home. I will be finishing out this years remaining shows onstage with my brothers and bandmates. For updates on what’s going on in my world go to www.thewoodenrelic.com
