Genevieve Pfluger Mejia, M.D. is an obstetrician and gynecologist at San Angelo Community Medical Center, and also serves as the Medical Director for the Laura Bush Institute of Women’s Health. This program provides free mammograms for the under-insured and uninsured. In this video, Dr. Mejia discusses detecting the signs and symptoms of breast cancer. These include a hard knot, lump or thickening of the skin on the breast or the underarm, changes in size and shape of the breast, puckering or dimpling of the skin, and discoloration of the skin. All of these could be indications of something serious, and your provider should be notified immediately.
