Breaking Benjamin Singer Considering Side Band With Lacey Sturm
It was recently revealed that Breaking Benjamin were working on an acoustic album featuring a number of special guests, including Saint Asonia's Adam Gontier, Underoath's Spencer Chamberlain, RED's Michael Barnes and former Flyleaf vocalist Lacey Sturm. But according to singer Benjamin Burnley, things might not stop there with one of the special guests.
Speaking with Cutter's RockCast (as heard in the player below), Burnley revealed that there might be a more extended project coming with Lacey Sturm. "I don't know if she'd be mad at me for saying anything about it, but me and Lacey have been talking about doing another band, putting a band together," the singer revealed. "We just wanna do, like, a record ... We've been talking a bit here and there about it. It'd just be something different. I think that'd be really cool."
Burnley says his friendship with Sturm dates beyond a decade, recalling, "One of the first tours, I think, they [Flyleaf] ever did — not the first, but one of the first tours they did ever — was with us. And it was a lot of fun. It was a lot different back in those days. Enough success to have fun, but not overboard, and it was all new and everything. She was always really cool; the whole band was always really, really cool."
The vocalist went on to compliment Sturm, adding, "I was really blown away by her inflection and her style. If you think I'm unique, she is one hundred percent unique — but in a good way. Sometimes singers that are unique, for me… I don't wanna put anybody down, but sometimes people are different just to be different — it's not really good; it's just different. But she's different and… [doing] her own thing."
He continued, "She's a really positive person and she does put off a positive vibe, which is really refreshing, especially for me — [since] I can be a negative person," he added. "She's just a really nice, sweet, genuine person. Singing-wise, I really respect her."
Sturm joins Burnley on the upcoming acoustic album performing the track "Dear Agony," which was the title track of the band's fourth studio album. The acoustic set does not have a title or release date as of yet, but it is expected before the year concludes. The singer says the band will also do a small tour to promote the acoustic release. In the interim, you can catch them with Chevelle, Three Days Grace and more at these stops.
