Chris Duarte is a legendary guitarist, singer and songwriter and he is bringing his style of Texas Blues-Rock to The Penny Tap House this Fri, May 13th.

Chris Duarte's Rockin-Blues sound incorporates elements of jazz, rockin blues, rock and roll and so much more that makes for his awesome and origional sound.

The Chris Duarte Group emerged on the scene out of Austin, Texas in the early 90’s and quickly gained notoriety as being among the best of the best. In the wake of Stevie Ray Vaughan’s passing, Duarte quickly gained a National reputation as young man many fans compared at times to the late guitarist.

To classify Chris Duarte simply as a Blues Man is an understatement. In his own words, “rockin’ blues” or ”punk blues” describes him best. “Ferocious blues” also fits.

Legend has it that Chris will sometimes play so hard that his fingers bleed during a set. Chris Duarte plays more than 150 dates a year all over the U.S and abroad including headlining major festivals and clubs throughout the US, Canada and Europe.

Check out the video posted here as an example of what Chris Duarte brings to the stage...

Chris has won numerous competitions such as “Best New Talent” in Guitar Player’s 1995 Reader’s Poll. He also finished fourth in the magazine’s “Best Blues Guitarist” category that year behind legends Eric Clapton, Buddy Guy and B.B. King. That's quite an honor to be recognized as being in the same league as those guys!!

If you can get out to the show this Friday at the Penny Tap House to see Chris Duarte, do it!!. Who knows when you'll have another opportunity to see him. The Penny Tap House is located at 2412 College Hills. For more information, call  949-5161 or visit  thepennytaphouse.com.
