Static-X are once again down a bassist, as the band’s latest four-string player, Brent Ashley, has just announced his exit from the group.

Some of rock’s greats were on hand Sunday night (Aug. 26) in Las Vegas for the third annual Vegas Rocks! Magazine Music Awards. Sammy Hagar, Geoff Tate, and David Coverdale of Whitesnake were among the top honorees taking home hardware for their efforts at the Las Vegas Hard Rock Hotel & Casino.

Earlier this month, the members of Baroness survived a horrific tour bus crash outside of Bath, England, as they were en route to Southampton for their next show. A majority of the group suffered serious injuries in the crash, which put all promotional activities on hold. Now comes word that the group is calling off the remainder of their touring for the rest of 2012.

Swedish metallers In Flames are enjoying life on the road, and even though they’ve started thinking about a new record, it’s likely that nothing will happen until the touring support for the ‘Sounds of a Playground Fading’ disc starts to wane.

It look as though the curator of the music for the upcoming film ‘Lawless’ has a fondness for a particular Velvet Underground song, as there are two cover versions of ‘White Light/White Heat’ that turn up on the soundtrack, due this Tuesday (Aug. 29).

Russian punk band Pussy Riot may have outspoken opinions on things, but unfortunately they don’t live in a country where they can speak their minds openly without threat of prosecution. Luckily for two members of the trio, they have fled the country to avoid further legal action.

Twisted Sister‘s Dee Snider is the latest to lash out at Ryan, calling him out over using his band’s music at a recent rally.

Steve Winwood‘s classic 1980 record, ‘Arc of a Diver,’ is getting the deluxe reissue. The Second Disc reports that the updated version will come with a bonus disc that includes a number of extra goodies.
