Have you ever noticed that your music tastes haven't changed much since you were in high school? Well, scientists have now found a reason for that.

Researchers went to Spotify and they found that most people gravitate to the type of music (and the actual songs) that were popular when they were in middle school and high school.

The average age a woman's musical tastes gets locked is from 11 to 14 years old. And for men, the average age is 14 to 16 years old. You do have another quick period in your early 20s when you expand your tastes a bit, but it's mostly in the early teens.

The perfect example of this is Radiohead's Creep. It's the 164th most popular song for men who are 38 right now, but it doesn't even crack the top 300 for those 10 years younger or 10 years older.

Of course, this isn't an exact science, so you could like music that was popular for you outside of those age ranges. Which explains why I still love Queen. But then again, Queen is immortal.
