Downtown San Angelo, Inc. will be hosting their annual Wooly Bully Mutton Bustin’ this Saturday.
Registration for the event will begin at 10:00am that morning and the events will start at 11:00am.
This event will feature multiple Rodeo/Agrarian based events for children ages 2-14.  Some of the highlighted events will be a Mutton Bustin’, Stick Horse Races, Boot Scramble, Dummy Steer Roping, Tractor Pull, and Petting Zoos.

Mutton Bustin’ ($10) will be an opportunity for your kid to hang on while trying to ride a sheep.  There will be two flights for this event, one for ages 3-6, the other for ages 7-10.  All participants must weigh less than 55 pounds.

Stick Horse Barrel Races ($2) will have three flights for ages 2-10 and offer kids the opportunity to race their “horses” around barrels for the fastest speed.

Dummy Steer Roping ($2) will have two flights for ages 4-10 and will offer kids the ability to test their roping skills on practice dummies. (We will provide assistance if needed!)

Boot Scramble ($2) is another race with three flights for ages 2-10 to test their quickness at a race to put on shoes and cross the finish line!

Tractor Pull ($5) ages 4-8 can test their strength with a weighted pedal “tractor” that is increasingly harder to pull closer to the finish line.

After all of the main activities there will be a Mutton Bustin’ Shoot-Out free to the top five winners of each of the two previous brackets.

These events will be followed by an Awards Ceremony for top Mutton’ Busters (belt buckle prize), and a Grand Champion Cowboy and Cowgirl (Free pair of boots donated from Barbed Wire and Roses prize.)

This will be an event for the whole family to enjoy, but will cater towards entertainment for kids.

Suddenlink is the Presenting Sponsor. In addition, Concho’s Downtown, Barbed Wire & Roses, and the San Angelo Stock Show and Rodeo Association are supporting sponsors.  Sponsors will each have a representative to judge the festivities.

Downtown San Angelo is working hard to make this the best Wooly Bully yet.  There will be opening ceremonies provided by the Concho Chicks, an all-female drill team on horseback.  The National Anthem will be sung by Tammy Merwin.  In addition as part of the opening ceremony the Concho Cowboy Association, a local re-enactment group will “deputized” all of the children participating.

Angelo State University is providing the mutton bustin’ sheep along with ASU mascot “Dominic”.

The San Angelo Stock Show and Rodeo will invite the Overall Cowboy & Cowgirl winners to participate at the 42nd Annual Stock Show & Rodeo “mutton bustin” in February, 2014.

New to the event this year, there's a Kiddie Tractor Pull, testing the strength of children on pedaling a weighted “tricycle tractor.”

On the grounds, a Kettle Corn/Lemonade stand, small petting zoo, and various other children’s activities will be provided.

Everyone is invited to this fun-filled event!  Saddle up & come enjoy Downtown!
