Late last week, Def Leppard guitarist Vivian Campbell revealed the difficult news that his cancer has returned. The rocker stated at the time, "I'm beyond consolation that its return will prevent me from being able to do my job for a while." But there has been a bit of positive news for Campbell as a new week begins. The rocker reveals he won't miss the band's touring after all.

In a newly posted message, the guitarist reveals that he's "dodged the bullet of radiation," as his doctors have steered him toward an alternative course of treatment. As a result, he is free to resume his duties in the band and will be with them when they hit the stage this weekend.

The rocker released this update on his cancer treatment that can be read below:

So, so happy to report that I've dodged the bullet of radiation. I was due to start a course that would have sidelined me for most of the first leg of the US tour, but my brilliant doctors have steered me towards an alternative course of treatment that will enable me to rejoin the tour this Saturday night in Birmingham Alabama. Furthermore, they've tailored future treatments to accommodate the tour schedule so I won't have to miss any more shows.
I'm so happy and so indebted to the wonderful physicians who have worked so hard on my behalf to make this happen.
See you Saturday!

Campbell was first diagnosed with Hodgkin's lymphoma in 2013 and immediately began treatment. By November of 2013, he stated that he was in remission, but it was later learned that his proclamation was premature as the cancer returned last year. After another round of treatment, the guitarist underwent a stem cell transplant last fall that was expected to help stave off a return. Unfortunately, last week, Campbell revealed that the cancer had returned again.

Def Leppard currently have North American dates booked into early October. See their shows here.
