The 2013 Summer Slaughter tour has announced the majority of bands who will grace this year's bill. Although specific dates have not yet been confirmed, the Dillinger Escape Plan will headline this year's tour, with Animals as Leaders, Periphery and more coming along for the ride.

Rumors have been flying around as to who would land on this year's bill. Although some of the rumored acts are now confirmed to appear on the tour, Summer Slaughter has managed to give us a few surprises, as well.

Along with experimental spastic metallers the Dillinger Escape Plan, who will headline this year's bill, Animals as Leaders, Periphery, Norma Jean, Cattle Decapitation, the Ocean, Revocation + Aeon will occupy stages across North America for this year's fest. Additionally, according to an official press release, two more featured bands have yet to be announced.

Dillinger Escape Plan vocalist Greg Puciato states of the band's slot on Summer Slaughter:

We can't wait to get back on the road! We're launching a US tour in the spring, hitting Europe for some festivals and club shows, and then hitting several more cities with Summer Slaughter all summer long. We are absolutely amped. After being holed up in the studio for such a long time giving birth to 'One of Us is the Killer,' we are all pent up and ready to share material new and old with our supporters doing what we love to do the most. Can't wait to see and either kiss or rip off each and every one of your faces on the road with Summer Slaughter and year round, everywhere.

Cattle Decapitation frontman Travis Ryan offers a quote about the tour as well:

We are very happy to be asked back to the Summer Slaughter tour. The first SS tour was the best US tour we've ever done and we look forward to helping devastate the states with our take on brutal, grinding death and playing the choicest slabs from our latest album Monolith of Inhumanity. Who's "ripe for the slaughter!?!?" See you this summer!

Summer Slaughter founder Ash Avildsen also shared his excitement for the tour's 2013 edition:

It's year seven and I think 2013's line-up is the most exciting and diverse yet. Slaughter has never been a one dimensional experience for fans. This year is a true testament to that as we have an amazing mix of extreme music's influential icons and leaders of the new school. Let the underground unite!

Summer Slaughter organizers are also asking metalheads to vote for one of the additional acts to appear on this year's tour, listing a total of 18 bands to choose from. To cast your vote, head over to Summer Slaughter on Facebook. 'Like' the page and make your voice heard.

Show dates for the 2013 Summer Slaughter tour have yet to be unveiled, but they will run from July 19 through Aug. 24. Stay tuned for more news as dates and additional bands continue to be confirmed for the annual shred-fest.
