As Homer Simpson once said "To alcohol, the cause of and solution to all of life's problems." Well, if you live in the state of Texas, alcohol can cause problems to your wallet because beer in Texas is expensive.

Simple Thrifty Living recently put together a study averaging the price of a case (24 pack) of Budweiser and Miller Lite by state. So this does not take into account micro brews. The states with the cheapest beer?

  1. Michigan - $14.62
  2. California - $14.87
  3. Illinois - $15.00
  4. North Carolina - $15.23
  5. Connecticut - $15.96
  6. South Carolina - $15.96
  7. Indiana - $15.98
  8. Virginia - $15.98
  9. Arizona - $16.35
  10. Nebraska - $16.62

Now, on the flip side, here are the states with the most expensive beer, at least in regards to Budweiser and Miller Lite.

  1. Pennsylvania - $21.98
  2. Tennessee - $21.97
  3. Texas - $21.66
  4. North Dakota - $21.38
  5. Rhode Island - $21.10
  6. Nevada - $20.93
  7. Oklahoma - $20.66
  8. Alaska - $20.65
  9. Wyoming - $20.45
  10. Washington DC - $20.34

And in case you live in New Mexico, you're kind of middle of the road when it comes to the price of beer with a case of beer going for $19.69.
