I've been in Texas now for almost a year and a half. When I first moved to El Paso, I had a lot of friends ask why in the world I would want to move there. Well, this is where the job is. But since I've been here, I've really grown to love the area, and Texas in general.

According to U.S. News Texas is a pretty damn good place to live. Here are the Texas cities that made the list.

  • Coming in at #1 overall, Austin, TX
  • #15 Dallas-Fort Worth, TX
  • #20 Houston, TX
  • #23 San Antonio, TX
  • #76 EL PASO, TX
  • #94 McAllen, TX

If you're wondering how they calculated the list of cities PR Newswire explains:

The 2017 Best Places to Live were determined in part by a public survey of thousands of individuals across the U.S. to find out what qualities they consider important in a home town. The methodology also factors in data from the United States Census Bureau, the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Bureau of Labor Statistics, as well as U.S. News rankings of the Best High Schools and Best Hospitals.
