Stone Sour Unleash Metallica ‘Creeping Death’ Cover During Current Tour
Stone Sour are a band that respects their roots, and they've been very good about paying homage to their metal forefathers over the years. The latest instance of this has come on the band's winter 2014 tour, where Corey Taylor and his cohorts have been breaking out a cover of Metallica's 'Creeping Death.'
The band has been playing the Metallica classic toward the end of the seltist during the recent shows of the trek. Explaining the decision to cover the song, Taylor told the crowd in Denver, "I can truly say that without Metallica every f---ing band within the last 20 years would not f---ing be here and I appreciate it."
Taylor offered a pretty solid James Hetfield impersonation before launching into the track. As for the performance, both Josh Rand and the band's current fill-in guitarist Christian Martucci capably handle the spotlight and the chance to riff on such a classic tune. Videos for the Denver and Los Angeles performances can be seen at the top and bottom of this post, respectively.
Stone Sour are in the home stretch of their current U.S. tour, with Texas dates left El Paso, Dallas, Houston and San Antonio this week.
