Blizzard has announced the final expansion of the StarCraft II, Legacy of the Void.

Legacy of the Void will continue the story of the Xel'naga threat while focusing on the Protoss race, who are being systematically exterminated. We'll get to see Artanis, Raynor and Kerrigan reluctantly band together to see how to stop this galactic threat.  Legacy of the Void will be getting two brand new gameplay modes being added. Archon Mode will let two different players control a single army at the same time in multiplayer mode. The Allied Commanders Mode will let players control important characters from the story and cooperatively play on their own.

While Legacy of the Void continues the stories of the previous two StarCraft games, Wings of Liberty and Heart of the Swarm, Blizzard does not require the ownership of the previous titles to play this Protoss-themed expansion -- it now exists as a standalone game.

The Terran's newest units are the Herc, which have harpoons. The Cyclone can move while shooting its missile launcher in any direction (even while running away), which is perfect for taking on Ultralisks and other slow units. Dropping off the Siege Tank in Siege Mode? Yes Please. Teleporting Battlecruisers? What the hell?

The Zerg will be getting the Ravager, a Roach offshoot that does a high-damage mortar attack. These mortar attacks mark their landing spots a second before hitting, so you can just dodge them, but slow-moving units will have trouble. Lurkers have returned, bringing back their long-range attacks and AOE damage.

Since Legacy of the Void's focus is on the Protoss and the Terran and Zerg already have had their own expansions, it's only right that the Protoss get a large chunk of the new features. The Disruptor can turn invulnerable for a few seconds and explode upon lowering its shields. The Warp Prism can now pick up units from a distance to rescue characters during fights, offering drop micro. The Oracle can now lay stasis traps.  Tempests can only attack ground units and have a long-standing poison-like attack. Carriers' Interceptors can now be sent to specific targets, giving you more options for damage dealing and distribution.

StarCraft II: Legacy of the Void will be hitting PC at an unspecified date.
