SAN ANGELO, Texas (AP) — Michael Kelly, metro editor of the San Angelo Standard-Times, has been promoted to editor.
The Standard-Times (http://bit.ly/1gMiLSy ) reported online Thursday that Kelly's promotion was effective immediately. He succeeds Tim Archuleta, who last month was named editor of the Corpus Christi Caller-Times. The Standard-Times and the Caller-Times are owned and operated by The E.W. Scripps Co.

The 63-year-old Kelly joined the Standard-Times as an assistant city editor in 2006 and was promoted to metro editor in 2008. Before moving to San Angelo, Kelly spent six years as assistant city editor at the Scripps-owned Albuquerque Tribune.

Earlier in his career, Kelly served in leadership and reporting roles at two weekly publications in British Columbia.

He attended Wittenberg University in Springfield, Ohio, and Wright State University in Fairborn, Ohio.
