California punk rockers Social Distortion have released a new video from their 2011 album ‘Hard Times and Nursery Rhymes.’ Olya and Vera Ishchuk, known as ‘Madtwins,’ have produced an animated video for the song ‘Gimme the Sweet and Lowdown.’ It depicts a man in the midst of drug and alcohol abuse who eventually ends up being chased by an axe-wielding maniac.

Social Distortion frontman Mike Ness tells RollingStone.com that the video really reveals the subject matter of the song. “The idea behind [the song] was a lifestyle gone wrong due to really bad life decisions. I never intended for it to be autobiographical, but now with this visual, I realize that it actually is more about me than it seemed when I wrote it.”

The band is getting ready to play some dates in Europe in August and early September.  They have a North American headlining tour scheduled to begin in October with alternative country artist Lindi Ortega and Atlanta rock band the Biters opening the shows.

Even though Social Distortion have a lot of touring coming up this year, they already have plans to record their next studio album. Ness revealed that they already have some work done on the record, and plan to begin the writing process in earnest next January.
