San Angelo — A 29-year-old man and a 23-year-old woman turned themselves in to authorities recently after seeing their image appear on the police department’s social media sites.
On October 23, 2013, the San Angelo Police Department issued a “Need to Identify” poster to citizens through Facebook, YouTube, Twitter and Pinterest.  The poster requested assistance with identifying the subjects in connection to a recent burglary of a building and use of a stolen credit card.   Within an hour of posting the request, police received numerous anonymous tips from citizens about the subjects’ identities — but tipsters were not the only ones who recognized the faces in the poster and video.

Two of the featured subjects and their associates also noticed their presence on the police department’s Facebook and YouTube sites and the newfound attention prompted them to contact police investigators.   The pair, who eventually showed up at the police station to speak with detectives, were released after their interviews.

Subsequent to the information learned in the interviews and follow up investigation, Detective Antoine Callum obtained warrants for their arrests.  One of the featured men, Scott Knight of San Angelo, was arrested on October 30, 2013 for Credit Card/Debit Card Abuse.  Knight is accused of using a credit card that was reported missing from a burglarized storage unit in October.  The featured female, Myan Largent of San Angelo, was arrested just before midnight last Friday, November 15, 2013.  Mayan approached police in area of W. Avenue J. and S Koenigheim St. to inform them she was aware of her Arrest Warrant for Burglary of a Building and wanted to turn herself in.  Largent is accused of burglarizing the aforementioned storage unit.

Several of the items reported stolen from the storage unit have since been recovered and returned to the victim.

A second man featured in the poster was identified; however, he has not been charged with either crime.
