Grand Opening of the Concho Valley Farmer’s Market

Saturday, June 20th, will be the grand opening of the Concho Valley Farmer's Market. Even though the market has been open for a couple of weeks, this Saturday will have live music, free produce and homemade goodies for door prizes, and great free coffee and lemonade while you get to tour all of the vendors.

This weekend's market will have one of it's biggest arrays of produce as it celebrates the grand opening. Festivities and fun starts at 7AM and will last until 12PM. Melons will be in the market in July. The market’s growers typically charge customers $1 for a bundle or a bowl of produce.

The vendors, who come from a 75-mile radius around San Angelo, will be offering locally grown and seasonal fruits, vegetables and plants under the Farmers Market Pavilion at 609 S. Oakes St., across from Fort Concho.

Some farmers may have homegrown tomatoes, which normally come into season in mid-June. The selection may also include Fredericksburg peaches, along with apples, peppers, corn, cucumbers, greens (including lettuce, spinach and collards), radishes, carrots, turnips, garlic, leeks, beets, shelled pecans, farm-fresh eggs, indoor and outdoor plants, onions, and herbs such as basil, thyme, cilantro, parsley and rosemary.

Interested farmers can join the market for $15 or $20, which allows them to set up a stand for $5 or $10 at each sale. The market will hold its sales until the first fall freeze.
