The San Angelo Animal Shelter will host a Pet Fair featuring low-cost microchipping; free dog dipping, toenail trimming and recycled collars; and ample opportunities to adopt a dog or cat this Saturday!
The Pet Fair will be from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m. at the shelter, 3142 U.S. Highway 67 North. Admission is free.

Everyone is welcome to bring their pets to be microchipped for $13. The technology, which involves inserting a tiny microchip under the animal’s skin, allows for lost pets’ owners to be easily located by animal control officers.

In addition to the free services, the shelter will have information tables on various topics related to animals, including protecting pets from heatstroke, organic pest deterrents, and litter box and house-breaking training tips. The fair will also feature music and free drinks and candy.

Throughout the day this  Friday, May 16, photos of cats and dogs available for adoption at the shelter will be posted on the City’s Facebook page at facebook.com/CityofSanAngeloTexas.

“We’d love for people to come out to the fair, support the shelter and adopt a pet while they’re here,” Animal Services Manager Julie Vrana said. “We have so many loving dogs and cats that are desperate for a home.”

Adopting a dog costs $85, which includes spaying/neutering, a rabies vaccine, microchipping, a City registration tag and the animal. Cat adoptions cost $50, which includes spaying/neutering, a rabies vaccine, microchipping and the cat.

Available pets can be viewed on the Animal Services page of the City’s website at cosatx.us/animals
