Rogue One made impressive effort not just to tie into the original Star Wars films, but also the animated Star Wars Rebels in at least three instances. We’ll even meet a younger Rogue One character on Rebels in 2017, though the film’s visual guide might also tease another Rogue favorite making an animated debut at some point in the series.

Take the below with a minor grain of salt for now, even as the inclusion of Chopper, The Ghost and “General Syndulla” make it unlikely Rogue One would forge any Rebels connection by accident. That said, fans reading writer Pablo Hidalgo's Star Wars: Rogue One: The Ultimate Visual Guide may have noticed an explicit Rebels reference with Diego Luna’s Cassian Andor.

Among the information revealed in the book, one of Cassian’s “Operational Aliases” is listed as “FULCRUM,” a “Recruitment agent in Albarrio sector.” Naturally, Rebels fans will recognize “Fulcrum” as the codename for multiple Rebel agents in different seasons, including Ahsoka Tano, and more recently, Agent Kallus.

Star Wars Rebels’ present chronology isn’t explicitly spelled out within Season 3, though at least enough time has passed for Ezra Bridger to appear noticeably older than the first season, which was said to take place five years before the events of A New Hope, and by association, Rogue One. Andor also states to Jyn Erso during the film that “I’ve been in this fight since I was six years old” (the guide identifies him as “26 standard years”), which could place him as an active “Fulcrum,” or at least Rebel agent concurrent with the animated series.

For the moment, Star Wars Rebels has not announced any plans to feature a younger Cassian Andor in Season 3 or beyond, though we’ll at least meet Forest Whitaker’s Saw Gerrera in 2017 premiere “Ghosts of Geonosis.” Whitaker will actually reprise his role for the animated incarnation, so might Diego Luna do the same?
