So the second Rogue One trailer is out. You can see it below if you haven't yet, or if you want to watch it again. I will probably watch it many, many more times. But here are some observations/predictions for Rogue One:

  1. From what I've seen so far, it looks really good. I might be more excited about this movie than I was for The Force Awakens.
  2. We get a brief glimpse of Darth Vader at the end of the trailer, and I'm wondering just how much Vader will get in this movie. They could easily give him the Joker treatment like Suicide Squad did. Or he could be a main character.
  3. Every Star Wars movie kicking off a new storyline has had someone die. A New Hope had Obi Wan. Phantom Menace had Qui-Gon. And ***SPOILER ALERT*** The Force Awakens had Han Solo. I'm predicting that in Rogue One, one or both of Saw Gerrera (Forest Whitaker) and Chirrut Imwe (the blind Asian guy with the staff) will die.
  4. Are they really obsessed with rehashing similar characters to what's already been done. I get that similar personalities will come through, but it's almost like the robot K-2SO (who is voiced by one of my favorite actors Alan Tudyk) is going to be a combination of Chewbacca and C-3PO. Tudyk has said that the difference between K-2SO (or Kaytoo for short) is that Kaytoo is unflappable. Which is where the Chewbacca comparison comes in.

But needless to say. I'm excited for this movie. But then again I was looking forward to Batman V Superman and Suicide Squad and both of those under-delivered. But here's to keeping our fingers crossed Rogue One lives up to the hype.
