With no end to his hiatus from Bon Jovi in sight, guitarist Richie Sambora is keeping busy with some new solo material.

Sambora, who shocked fans by unexpectedly leaving the band's most recent tour, unveiled a happier surprise this week, when he released his latest solo single, 'Come Back As Me.' Clocking in at a slim three minutes, the track rides a driving rhythm and insistent riff that culminate in a shout-along, radio-ready chorus.

While Sambora's PR team isn't saying much about the origins of the song or any plans to make it part of a full-length release, Bon Jovi fans may find it difficult to resist reading into lines like "What do you want me to say, I gave you everything I could give / But everything just wasn't enough, so I just let live and live" or the song's defiant vibe, which stresses the importance of staying true to one's self in the face of adversity.

The timing of the release is a bit curious, but Sambora's most recent remarks seem to indicate he could be back in the Bon Jovi fold in the not-too-distant future, so maybe this is just a little bit of blowing off steam between projects. Either way, posted feedback on the 'Come Back As Me' YouTube upload (which you can watch above) has been overwhelmingly positive, and Sambora's fans are clearly ready for more.
