The most anticipated metal memoir of 2015 has finally been given a release date. Lamb of God vocalist Randy Blythe tells the full tale of his Czech manslaughter trial in Dark Days: My Tribulations and Trials, and on July 14, we'll all be able to flip open its pages.

It's hard to believe its nearly been two full years since Randy Blythe was acquitted of all charges. Daniel Nosek passed away not long after reportedly hitting his head at a Lamb of God show. Randy Blythe was charged for the incident, and after spending over a month in Czech prison, Blythe's trial eventually ended in a "not guilty" verdict for the metal frontman.

Blythe's Dark Days book synopsis reads, "In 2010, a 19-year-old super-fan rushed the stage during a Lamb of God concert in Prague. To protect himself, singer Randy Blythe pushed the fan away. Unbeknownst to Blythe, the young man hit his head on the floor when he fell and later died from the injury. Blythe was promptly incarcerated on charges carrying a prison term of five to ten years. Thirty-seven days later, he was released on bail to await trial. Although legal experts told him not to return to the Czech Republic to face the charges, Blythe explained that he 'could not run away from this problem while the grieving family of a dead young man searched hopelessly for answers that [he] might help provide.'"

Blythe adds:

Most substance-abuse books end with the author getting sober. My book starts there.
This book will tell that story, the whole story, for the first time ever. I'm the only one who lived it, so I'm the only one capable of telling it. However, the tale of my arrest, incarceration, release, and trial are merely the vehicle I will be using to convey what I feel is an important message in today's fast-paced, high-tech, self-centered world.
I have something to say, and life has presented me with a tragic way to illustrate my point without being preachy or pedantic.
I will not moralize or shout from some ludicrous ethical pedestal (I didn't win the Olympics or cure cancer, I went to prison, for Pete's sake) — I just want to relate how I got through a very scary time and came out with my head held high. I think there is a lesson of value in the telling of my story, if only for myself. Therefore I will write it, and I hope some of you will read it.

“Writing a book is a sustained exertion," Blythe tells Metal Hammer. "I thought it was going to be easy – I thought, ‘I’m just going to sit down and this stuff is going to flow out.’ In short order I exhibited every writerly behavior that I thought I’d avoid, and made fun of. Endless urges to do housework, wash the dishes – the thing I learned is, the hardest part is not the writing itself. It’s making yourself sit in the chair.”

After Blythe realized he wouldn't be able to complete Dark Days either on tour or at home, Randy temporarily left his home city of Richmond, Va., to rid himself of all distractions.

The full story will finally be told by Randy himself! Get ready for Dark Days to impact your eyes on July 14! The book is available for pre-order at Amazon.
