An oversize ping-pong ball volleyed around a badminton-size court with a tennis- size net: that’s how some describe pickleball, one of the fastest growing sports in the US according to Athletic Business magazine.
We told you a few days ago about the City of San Angelo's new Pickleball court. Here's more details on "pickleball"!

Fast-paced, easy-to-learn and inexpensive to play, pickleball has gained enthusiasts of all ages and skill levels since it was invented in 1965 and the number of active pickleball players has nearly doubled in the country since 2010. According to USA Pickleball Association, there are currently 1,900 places to play pickleball in the US with more courts being added each month.

On March 7, Pickleball Channel, powered by Hyland’s Leg Cramps, made its internet debut. Every week, Pickleball Channel will bring web audiences new digital content from the quickly expanding world of pickleball.

PickleballChannel.com is an interactive website that provides news and community resources for pickleball players and organizations nationwide. The channel’s Executive Producer Rusty Howes says that with the lightning-speed growth of pickleball, there was a need for exciting digital content online to serve the sport’s growing fanbase.

“PickleballChannel.com brings fans interesting stories and helpful tips in one accessible location,” says Howes. “It’s the place where Pickleballers young and old, novice and professional, can come together, tell their stories, and share their passion for the sport.”

Howes’ vision for PickleballChannel.com will focus on inspiring and motivating pickleball fans and players through interactive content that allows them to connect on a personal level. The channel’s shows feature in-depth pickleball player profiles and interviews as well as tips and tricks for improving pickleball play. Howes hopes that the combination of new digital media and emphasis on building community will allow PickleballChannel.com subscribers to share their passion with other individuals and groups who can connect with the sport.

“We want PickleballChannel.com to be a vibrant resource for pickleball athletes, fans, and organizations to share, spread, and celebrate their love for the game.”

PickleballChannel.com will feature new content each week. The first video blog features the mayor of Cathedral City, California who turned a public tennis court into a pickleball court to accommodate the city’s growing number of pickleball players, including Stan and Maureen Miller-Nielsen, local pickleballers who discovered the sport after moving to the area from Canada.
