Pearl Jam's Eddie Vedder has been in the giving spirit over the holidays, first chipping in a significant sum to a family in need to save their Christmas and now joining with his bandmates to help out a man who once saved his life.

As the story goes, over a decade ago Vedder was paddling the Pailolo Channel between Maui and Molokai in a six-man sailing canoe when the craft ran into trouble and overtuned. Vedder and two female companions were separated from the vessel, only to eventually be rescued by a young girl and her father who also happened to be sailing the channel and heard the voices calling for help. Vedder shared the story during a 2013 concert, bringing out the girl Ashley Baxter during their set and dedicating "Future Days" to her. Watch it above.

Just last year, Keith Baxter, the father who saved Vedder that fateful day, suffered a debilitating injury that has since escalated to a life-threatening infection. The family launched a GoFundMe page to assist in helping Baxter deal with the costly treatment and necessary travel stateside. While there have been plenty who have donated, a closer look at the donors on Baxter's page shows five donations of $14,000 apiece, with four of them being anonymous and the fifth being listed as Stone Gossard, Pearl Jam's guitarist.

Speaking to The Inertia, Baxter's wife Karen confirmed the Pearl Jam participation in the GoFundMe campaign. “Yes, it’s all true," she stated. "Pearl Jam (Eddie, Stone, Jeff, Mike, and Matt) matched what was originally raised ($70K) through Gofundme.com."
