Santo Condorelli is an Italian Canadian competitive swimmer that shares a special heartwarming tradition with his father Joseph Condorelli. The father and son enjoy flipping each other off before every race.

Now, Santo is not giving his dad the finger because he hates him. The 21 year-old does it for good luck. Santo spoke to reporters and said it all started when he was just 8 years-old. Apparently his dad told him to say “f**k off” to all his competitors and to flip him off before every race:

'[My dad said] ‘You’ve got to build your confidence yourself and say eff everybody else that you’re racing. He said ‘Every time you’re behind the blocks, give me the finger and I’ll give it back to you.'

You can catch Santo Condorelli in action tonight when he competes for a medal in the men's 100m freestyle. Be sure you pay attention because sometimes it seems like he is flipping off the man above and other times he throws it out real quick.

Check him out at the 1:33 mark.
