New Mexico Murder Suspect Asks For Judge Halloween Favor

A New Mexico woman charged with murder is asking a judge to extend her curfew so she can stay out later for trick or treating with her child.

A New Mexico judge is being faced with a difficult decision- whether or not a murder suspect, who is a mother, should be allowed to stay out past curfew to take her daughter trick or treating.

Marisa Sepulveda is charged with playing a role in the May 2016 death of Aliyah Garcia. Garcia was killed in a drive-by shooting in Albuquerque that was orchestrated by Sepulveda. According to police, Sepulveda told friends to rob a person who they believed had a pound of marijuana. When the drive-by occurred, Garcia was nearby and police are saying this is a case of wrong place, wrong time.

A young mom is charged with the drive-by murder of 18-year-old Aliyah Garcia, who was in the wrong place at the wrong time. That mom now wants a favor from the judge: a later curfew for Halloween. Sepulveda was allowed to stay out of jail under strict supervision including: no drugs, GPS monitoring, counseling and an 8 p.m. curfew. Sepulveda believes 8 p.m. is too early though for Halloween. She is asking the judge to extend her curfew to 9:30 p.m. for Halloween so she can go trick-or-treating with her daughter.

The victim’s sister, Sharlene Garcia, says she doesn’t believe Sepulveda should be allowed to stay out late just for the holiday. A neighbor of Sepulveda also said that most peoplple are done trick-or-treating in the neighborhood before 9 p.m. Read more about this on the KRQE website.
