Konami recently shed some light on sales figures for Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes, and it looks like the game might as well have been a PlayStation 4 exclusive.

Konami revealed the details on a quarterly sales report, but according to CVG, didn't give hard sales unit numbers for either version. The publisher did state that for the April-June quarter, the PS4 version of Ground Zeroes made up 12 percent of Konami's total software sales, while the Xbox One version only accounted for 4 percent. It would be a lot easier to see the disparity between the two versions with some hard numbers, but the fact that the PS4 version had triple the impact of the Xbox One version is still telling.

You may say, "Well Sushi, Ground Zeroes launched in March, so maybe the majority of Xbox One copies sold in that quarter." Au contraire, dear reader, as CVG cites the percentages as 8 percent for PS4 and 3 percent for Xbox One in the January-March quarter. There's no getting around it: PS4 is ground zero for great Ground Zeroes sales.

If nothing else the game-playing community is a loyal bunch, as any console-related forum thread will attest, so seeing PlayStation come out on top here is not surprising. People associate Snake and the gang with PlayStation and have done so every since the original Metal Gear Solid on PS1. Microsoft will really need to promote the living hell out of Phantom Pain if they want to win the sales war.

Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain launches in early 2015 for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360, and PlayStation 3.
