Marilyn Manson Unveils Gritty Video for ‘The Mephistopheles of Los Angeles’

Does Marilyn Manson have a future as a healer? We'll let you decide, as the rocker has just unveiled a gritty new video for "The Mephistopheles of Los Angeles."

The Francesco Carrozzini-directed clip opens with a narration from veteran actor Michael K. Williams, best known for his roles on the HBO series The Wire and Boardwalk Empire. And you can gather right off the bat when Williams states, "The first time we met, I could feel the hounds of hell on my trail," that we're in for something a little darker in tone. During his speech, we come to learn of Williams' encounter with the so-called "Mephistopheles of Los Angeles" as played by Manson.

In the clip, you see a group of characters gather around Manson as he begins the process of reading each person and going through a "healing," much like some of the faith healers we've all seen on TV. Whether it be placing the hands upon the skull or performing a baptism of sorts, Manson seeks to relieve all, while belting lyrics about being ready to meet his maker and that "Lazarus ain't got no dirt on me." "The Mephistopheles of Los Angeles" comes from Manson's latest album, The Pale Emperor. The disc has already given us such standout cuts as "Third Day of a Seven Day Binge," "Deep Six" and "Cupid Carries a Gun." It's available at Amazon and iTunes.
