In This Moment Ready To Work on New Album After Inking Major-Label Deal
In This Moment advanced to the proverbial next level with 2012's 'Blood,' and now they are ready to continue their ascent. The band wrapped up the 'Blood' tour cycle last night (Feb. 4), and guitarist Chris Howorth reveals in a new interview that the band is ready to hit the studio later this month to start work on the follow-up.
"We have a bunch of ideas," Howorth tells Billboard; "and the way we did 'Blood' was different than we'd done any album before. We brought ideas and pieces and parts into the studio and wrote each song in the studio, one at a time. All the other albums we had the songs formatted and together already."
Howorth continues: "So we're going to do the same thing again. We're gonna try to replicate the magic of 'Blood' and try to take the style and sound we had for 'Blood' and just do it bigger and better while still keeping true to that same vibe. That's our sound. We feel like we found something and want to stick the flag in the ground on top of that hill."
Howorth says they'll work with Kevin Churko again, who produced 'Blood.' He says they also have some guests lined up for the record, but isn't revealing specifics yet. The upcoming album will also be on a major record label, as In This Moment have signed with Atlantic.
In This Moment recently released a special edition of 'Blood,' which includes the DVD 'Live at the Orpheum' along with the original album and a cover of the Nine Inch Nails track 'Closer.' As far as a timetable on when to expect new material, Howorth says they plan to have a single done by June or July, with the album release to follow in the fall.
