High on Fire‘s summer plans will not include touring as the band have dropped off the Rockstar Energy Mayhem Festival as a sign of support for frontman Matt Pike. The musician has decided to enter treatment for alcohol rehabilitation.

The group stated, “High on Fire would like to thank everyone involved with the Rockstar Energy Drink Mayhem Festival for the opportunity to be a part of this year’s tour. We regretfully will have to bow out as our friend and bandmate begins his recovery, but very much appreciate having been asked to be a part of this summer’s festival run.”

The power trio, which also includes drummer Des Kensel and bassist Jeff Matz, will take a break from the road as a result of the layoff.

The band’s latest record, ‘De Vermis Mysteriis,’ was released to critical acclaim in April. The disc is a concept album dealing with themes of time travel, drugs, war, and man’s humanity toward each other.

The Rockstar Energy Drink Mayhem Festival will still feature a stellar lineup that includes Slipknot, Slayer, Anthrax, Motorhead and more.
