Guns N’ Roses Salute Late AC/DC Guitarist Malcolm Young in Sacramento

Guns N’ Roses frontman Axl Rose has had a close association with AC/DC, especially over the past year-plus when he subbed in for Brian Johnson to help the band finish out their touring. So it’s not a surprise that he would pay tribute to guitarist Malcolm Young while playing a Guns N’ Roses show Saturday night (Nov. 19) in Sacramento.

Rose waited until late in the evening, first speaking to the crowd ahead of performing Alice Cooper’s “Only Women Bleed,” then Bob Dylan’s “Knockin’ on Heaven’s Door.” “We’re gonna dedicate this to Mr. Malcolm Young, who will be sorely missed by none more than his brother Angus,” explained Rose. The group posted footage of the intro on their social media and it can be seen in the player above.

After “Knockin’ on Heaven’s Door,” Guns N’ Roses turned up the energy in the room by rocking out AC/DC’s “Whole Lotta Rosie.” You can watch fan-shot footage of that performance below.

Young passed away Saturday (Nov. 18) at the age of 64 after a long battle with dementia.
