If you think Green Day have been busy just by the wealth of music coming your way over the next six months, you’d be correct. But also putting in the hours of late have been the filmmakers behind a pair of documentaries that are expected to be released in coordination with the band’s upcoming album trilogy.

Billboard reports that Tim Lynch, who produced the band’s ‘Green Day: Bullet in a Bible’ film, and Tim Wheeler, a co-producer on the White Stripes‘ ‘Under Great White Northern Lights,’ have been working together to shoot a film about the ‘¡Uno!,’ ‘¡Dos!’ and ‘¡Tre!’ discs. In addition, there’s a second film that’s being compiled from vintage footage of the group’s pre-’Dookie’ era days.

Singer Billie Joe Armstrong says, “It’s not going to be the sitting down, head shot of me going, ‘We started out blah blah blah!’ We wanted to get into the lifestyles of rock ‘n’ roll and playing rock ‘n’ roll and letting the story kind of tell itself rather than create revisionist [history].”

The filmmakers are also heading into the rehearsal space with the band as they prepare for their upcoming Japanese and European tours. A Warner Bros. spokesperson told Billboard that the hope is that the film will be ready early next year with the potential to premiere at Sundance.

Meanwhile, in other Green Day news, we’re about to get our first official taste of new music. The single ‘Oh Love’ has now been confirmed to premiere this coming Monday (June 16) at 6:00AM PT/9:00AM ET at GreenDay.com. That same day, pre-orders for all three albums will be made available. ‘¡Uno!,’ ‘¡Dos!’ and ‘¡Tre!’ and due Sept. 25, Nov. 13, and Jan. 15 respectively.
