It’s been four months since 89 concertgoers lost their lives at an Eagles of Death Metal show in Paris after a string of terrorist attacks which hit the French city in November 2015. Every angle seems to have been covered, but EODM frontman Jesse Hughes just implied for the first time that he believes security may have been in on the attack.

Fox Business released Part 1 of their interview with Jesse Hughes yesterday (March 9) and the musician spoke of some very unnerving new details. According to Hughes, various security personnel at Le Bataclan were acting strangely and “six or so” didn’t show up for work that night.

Hughes said he had a strange feeling about security that night, even asking for one backstage guard to be replaced. “When I first got to the venue and walked in, I walked past the dude who was supposed to be the security guard for the backstage. He didn’t even look at me,” Hughes recalled. “I immediately went to the promoter and said, ‘Who’s that guy? I want to put another dude on,’ and he goes, ‘Well some of the other guards aren’t here yet,’ and eventually I found out that six or so wouldn’t show up at all.”

One may chalk that up to dumb luck for the security guards who didn’t arrive at their posts, but Hughes has his own theory. “Out of respect for the police still investigating, I won’t make a definite statement, but I’ll say it seems rather obvious that they had a reason not to show up,” Hughes said.
