Eagles of Death Metal Postpone Current European Shows Due to Jesse Hughes Injury

Eagles of Death Metal have been forced to postpone the rest of their current European tour due to an injury sustained by frontman Jesse Hughes.

This was Eagles of Death Metal’s triumphant return to Europe only months after a terrorist attack left 89 fans dead during the band’s Nov. 13, 2015 show at Paris’ Le Bataclan. Survivors of the tragic show, friends and family of those lost in the attack and other loyal fans joined EODM for a healing night of music in Paris on Feb. 16. It was Eagles of Death Metal’s first headlining show in the “City of Light” since the tragedy, and strangely enough, it seems to be the place where Jesse Hughes initially injured his finger.

Jesse Hughes has been left unable to play guitar after tearing a tendon in his left hand. While taking fan requests alone onstage, Hughes played part of a song he hadn’t jammed in quite some time. “Can I show y’all how nervous I am?” Hughes asked fans after playing part of the song. “I snapped a tendon in my middle finger right now I’m so nervous. So if I f— up at guitar, y’all can not get mad at me.”

Eagles of Death Metal performed seven shows across Europe since the Paris gig and it seems Hughes is still struggling with the tendon tear. Six more shows, including another one in France, have been cancelled but will be rescheduled so fans can still get their EODM dose. Eagles of Death Metal still plan to perform the band’s handful of South American and Australian dates scheduled for March.
