Coheed and Cambria have been touring the States in support of their latest album The Color Before the Sun, and they made their New York stop by playing a packed house at the Theater at Madison Square Garden.

The somber intro of “Ghost” filled the venue but the band wasted no time as the floor shook when the crowd unleashed to “In Keeping Secrets of Silent Earth: 3” and “Blood Red Summer.” Vocalist Claudio Sanchez was all smiles as he looked at all of the band's passionate fans singing word for word. Coheed also cranked out new tracks “Island,” “Here to Mars,” “Atlas” and “The Audience.”

The audience was sweaty by the time the encore came around but that didn’t stop them from singing at the top of their lungs during notable Coheed anthems “The Running Free” and “Welcome Home.” The New York band certainly was home and their fans in the Big Apple will be waiting for them to return. Coheed and Cambria's U.S. tour continues through the end of March. Go here for a full list of dates.

Long Island band Glassjaw took the stage beforehand and the hometown boys delivered a forceful set that was dark, heavy hitting and melodic all at once. The band has always been deep rooted in the New York hardcore scene. After a long hiatus, with new music and a revitalized spirit, Glassjaw have been welcomed back with great enthusiasm by their fans.

I The Mighty and fellow Californians Silver Snakes opened up the show with lively performances. Check out our gallery above of Coheed and Cambria and Glassjaw performing in New York City!
