The City of San Angelo in conjunction with the San Angelo Independent School District will launch an online auction of surplus vehicles and other equipment on Monday, Aug. 12, at renebates.com.
Among the 52 items available for purchase are cars, pickup trucks, dump trucks, large mowers, four-wheel all-terrain vehicles, a forklift and a manlift. The equipment was previously owned by the City, the SAISD and the San Angelo Police Department Narcotics Task Force.

The items will be available for viewing beginning on Monday, Aug. 5. Bidding begins Aug. 12 and will continue through Aug. 28.

This will be the first of a series of smaller online auctions the City will be conducting throughout the year. That’s a departure from the past when the City conducted a large live auction that incorporated online bidding. No office or miscellaneous items will be sold in this sale, although these items may be sold in a live auction that may occur at a later date.

The auction is being administered by Rene Bates Auctioneers, which conducts online auctions for a number of Texas municipalities and other governmental entities. Funds raised will be returned to the appropriate City fund, such as the general, water or airport fund, or to the SAISD.

The oldest piece of equipment available is a 1982 Ford bucket truck, followed by a 1986 Bruton trailer. The newest vehicles are a pair of 2010 Dodge Chargers. Other items of interest include:

  • A 1998 Ford 12-yard dump truck.
  • Five mowers with cutting decks ranging from 34 inches to 72 inches.
  • A couple of four-wheelers.
  • A 100-foot manlift.
