BioWare Open to Mass Effect Remake, Polls Fans on Features

If you've got a hankering for more Mass Effect, then you might be interested to know that BioWare is considering a remaster and is polling fans on desired features.

An article on Eurogamer reports that BioWare Edmonton and Montreal boss Aaryn Flynn has recently discussed a potential remake for the Mass Effect trilogy and has even polled fans on what features they'd want in such a remaster on NeoGAF.

Flynn himself listed features he'd want, which was a mix of his opinions and that of people who have spoken with him. These features include the following:

1080p
60 FPS
High-res textures, especially in ME1
Shader improvements that take advantage of new GPUs
All pieces of downloadable content.
A "seamless experience" in which all of the games flow into each other without the need for importing saves.

In no way are these potential features set in stone, so Flynn impresses that you see this as a "wish list" at this stage in the game. While the idea of a seamless experience would be welcome, Flynn squashed any hopes that the original Mass Effect would get reworked so that it used the combat mechanics from Mass Effect 3.

He said, "'ME3 combat mechanics in ME1' comes up relatively often, but it's not on my radar (again, speaking personally). First it would be a helluva lot of work. Second, I hate the idea of us being accused of 'retconning' ME1. Third (and I bet everyone on NeoGAF knows this), there are those who prefer ME1... So given that all that, it doesn't feel like the right thing to do."

Here's to hoping for a fantastic remake of the Mass Effect trilogy on the horizon.
