Just ahead of E3, Rocksteady revealed Batman: Arkham Knight was going to be delayed into 2015. While many thought the wait would be lengthy, it now appears we won't have to wait very long after the New Year arrives to take on Batman's last adventure.

According to the U.S. Microsoft store, the Xbox One version of Batman: Arkham Knight will release on Feb. 24, 2015. Though still a far cry from the originally slated Fall 2014 release window, at least we won't have to wait until the typical October release timeframe next year.

Though still an unofficial release date, as Rocksteady and Warner Bros. Interactive have yet to chime in, Microsoft's leak does match closely with what we've heard from Batman himself. Last week, Kevin Conroy spoke at Denver Comic Con, where he announced Arkham Knight was coming in January 2015. ”It was supposed to come out in January, we’ve been working on it for a year and a half and it’s still not done," Conroy said in an interview. "So it’s going to come out next January.”

Batman: Arkham Knight is the third and final game in Rocksteady's Arkham trilogy. Taking place some time after the events of Arkham City, Batman will face off against a new foe in the titular Arkham Knight, as well as more recognizable villains like Penguin, Two-Face and Scarecrow. The Batmobile features heavily into the game this time around, and based on what we've seen over the past few weeks, should bring some new life to the formula.

Batman: Arkham Knight will be available on Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC, whenever it does actually arrive.
