If you're an Avenged Sevenfold fan living in the Minneapolis area, you're going to get the best of both worlds this week. Not only can you see Avenged opening for Metallica at the brand new spacious U.S. Bank Stadium on Saturday night (Aug. 20), but the band has also announced plans to play a free intimate club show at the legendary First Avenue Thursday night (Aug. 18).

The band says in a statement, "We got into Minneapolis a little bit early and decided we wanted to play a small gig to get the blood flowing again. We called up the world famous First Avenue and asked if we could play a free show tomorrow night, Aug. 18, and they said yes! So, there you have it!"

The group reveals that doors will open at 7PM and they will go on around 9PM. There will be no tickets for this show and the first 1,500 people that are lined up will see the show. There is no designated time for the line up, so it would not be surprising for some of the band's most dedicated fans in the area to already be claiming their spot.

Avenged Sevenfold have had a bit of upheaval over the last couple of years. The band split with drummer Arin Ilejay, who has since started drumming with Islander, and they replaced him with longtime Bad Religion drummer Brooks Wackerman. In addition, in late 2015, the band announced that it planned to sever its ties with Warner Bros. Records, citing the California seven-year statute as related to personal service agreements. The label in turn sued the band in January for breach of contract, claiming that they still owed a studio album and a live album as part of their existing deal. The band has been working on new music and even shared a piece of new music this spring, but there has been no official word of when a new album will be released.
