The lighting ceremony will begin at 7 p.m. near the Mayer Administration Building, 2601 W. Avenue N, and is free and open to the public. Activities will include ice skating on a synthetic rink provided by the University Center Program Council. An ASU chamber ensemble will perform Christmas songs along with members of the Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia music student organization. ASU Greek Life will sponsor an ornament table where members of ASU’s registered student organizations will create ornaments for the tree.

Also, Baptist Student Ministry will host a cookie-decorating contest while offering information on Operation San Angelo Child, a drive to fill shoeboxes with necessities for local children. Members of the Society of Physics Students will be creating nitrogen-infused ice cream for participants to enjoy. Hot chocolate and cookies will also be provided. Members of the Air Force ROTC will provide information about the history of the Memorial Oak Grove with photographs of the fallen soldiers the trees represent.

The 15-foot Christmas tree will remain on display through the holiday season.
