As I Lay Dying’s Tim Lambesis Actually Paid $160,000 To Make Bail on Murder-for-Hire Charge

As I Lay Dying frontman Tim Lambesis was released on $2 million bail last week after being accused of hiring a hitman to kill his estranged wife. Now we're learning how much Lambesis had to pay to be granted that bail.

The San Diego Reader reports that documents show Lambesis or his agent paid $160,000 to All-Pro Bail Bonds as a "premium." Typically, a bail bondsman agrees to secure release of the accused individual from jail in return for a fee that's a percentage of the bond. In Lambesis' case, it was 8 percent of the $2 million bond.

As conditions for bail, Lambesis is required to wear a GPS tracking device and is to have no contact with his estranged wife Meggan and the couple’s three adopted children.

Lambesis was arrested on May 7 when he allegedly tried to hire an undercover detective to murder his wife, offering him cash as well as security codes for the couple’s home. During a court hearing, Lambesis' attorney claimed that taking steroids were to blame for the singer's erratic behavior and actions in the murder-for-hire plot.

As I Lay Dying have canceled all their remaining 2013 tour dates, including a stint on Killswitch Engage’s headlining trek. Lambesis is due in court again on June 26 for a readiness conference.
